A new tool to find the best illustrators and artists for creative projects.

Whist working on creative pitches, I often found myself trawling through a huge folder of bookmarked illustrators to use as proposals for the projects. I usually found this incredibely time-consuming and part of the issue was that, with such a visual task, my bookmarks were showing me the names of the illustrators but not their work, which in-turn meant you had to manually click into each bookmark to find the perfect match.
From this process came Kanvo. A new tool, currently under construction, to discover new artists and illustrators.
I want to create a curated online portal to showcase illustrators and their work, and to better bridge the gap between creatives and illustrators. It's currently in the process of being built and, when completed, should hopefully house an ever-growing pool of the best illustrators.

It was important to have a more visual approach to finding illustrators and artists - bringing their work to the forefront and paring back any visual clutter.
The collection of illustrators shown is also completely open, and users are able to submit their own illustrators into the site. All the work on Kanvo remains the property of each respective artists, the site is only intended to act as a tool to discover.

The concept for our submission began when Robin Barnes (Stink Studios' 3D wondergenius) discovered an extensive, open-source, library of V&A sculptures that we were able to be customize and alter freely.
We wanted to explore a concept where these scupltured could 'leave' the static exhibition space and be brought to life in a virtual and free environment - an environment where users could remix and customize the priceless scupltures standing infront of them in contemporary and thought provoking way.

The artist pages contain images of their work, contact details and specific tags related to the art.
Usually in the search for illustrators, creatives will have a mood or tone they want to convey. This helps users find the best illustrators quicker and more seamlessly.

Within the search, users can filter by location and tags in order to narrow their pool of illustrators. When users close the search, they're able to see how many filters they've placed and can return to adjust at any time.

A big part of the site is that it's grown out of a collection of personal bookmarks. However in an effort to grow the number of illustrators on the site, users (as well as existing illustrators) can also submit their own suggestions to be included, the site should be fundamentally inclusive and open.

The site is also completely responsive and able to be used on the fly, for all the busy cats out there.
